Depending on the Nanodegree program you're enrolled in, you might need AWS credits to pass one or more projects. Amazon has changed its process in providing AWS credits, so we'll try our best to differentiate the accounts for you.
You will need only the regular AWS account if you're enrolled in the following Nanodegree programs:
- Cloud DevOps Engineer
- Cloud Developer
- Computer Vision
- Data Engineer
- Deep Learning
- Deep Reinforcement Learning
- Machine Learning Engineer
If this applies to you, then you will only need the regular AWS account and won't need the AWS Starter account. For instructions on how to create this account, go to this article and follow Step #1. However, you will need a promo code from us so you can apply it to your account. To request a promo code, you can submit a support ticket here. Choose Other >> External Tools under Reason for Contact, and then choose AWS under External Tools. Please also note that AWS will ask you for a credit card, but you will not be charged unless you go over the credits we provide.
AWS Starter Account
You will need only the AWS Starter account if you're enrolled in a Nanodegree program that requires the following:
- The project requires AWS credits
- Your GPU instance does not need a service limit increase
- You don't need access to Redshift cluster
If this applies to you, then you will need to also create an AWS Starter account. For instructions on how to create your AWS Starter account, go to this article and follow the instructions under the heading, "If you're enrolled in other NDs that require AWS..." Please note that all Starter accounts are preloaded with $100, and you cannot add to this. You will also NOT be asked for a credit card.
