Can I pause my Nanodegree Program?
There isn't an option to pause a Nanodegree program as yet. That said, if you are on a monthly subscription, you can cancel at any time, after which your access to the program will move to static access at the end of the billing cycle. And then, whenever you feel you are ready to get started again, you can re-purchase a subscription.
However, if you have purchased a bundle subscription, you are automatically committed to this period for your subscription and cannot pause in the middle. Once the bundle period ends, you can take a break from your Nanodegree program. To do this, you will have to cancel the subscription and re-subscribe once you feel that the time is right for you to pick it back up!
Few important things to note:
1. To keep the content fresh, the Nanodegree programs do get periodic updates. Hence, the content may see some changes while you are on your break. If this happens, then depending upon the changes, you might have to complete new and different projects to be eligible to graduate.
2. Generally speaking, if you come back quickly, usually all your progress would still be saved, but as mentioned above, we cannot guarantee it.
3. Any discounted price you currently have with your subscription would not rollover. You would need to re-enroll at the current price at that time.

I think you need to give us the chance to pause if we paid for a bundle subscription as Life happens!!
And now i have some issues going in my life and a pause for two weeks would help but of course now i have to waste my money or to stress myself..14 -
Hi Nada mohamed ragab Mabrouk, presently we do not have a provision to pause any program. I have made a note of your feedback, and I'll share it with the relevant team.

i agree with Nada mohamed ragab Mabrouk, i also came to look for this option if available coz i have urgent cases came up in my life. :(
i bought a bundle like 4 months access btw. so urgently might have to pause for my study unfortunately.

Count me in too, the projects are challenging (which is good) but take a lot of time and sometimes we can't find time to focus working on them. Definitely need a 'pause' option.

I would like to throw my 2 cents in here as well; I agree with Khai, the projects are very challenging and I am going to need to research several things outside of Udacity (that were not covered in the course yet are part of the project) in order to complete the project; meanwhile the clock is ticking on my subscription while I am also working 50+ hours a week.

Hi Khai Nguyen and Jason Wilkes, I have made a note of your feedback, and shared it with the relevant team. Thanks!

I would like to support this idea of pausing a nanodegree as indeed Life does happen quite a lot and it's important to be able to redefine priorities if need be. Pausing a nanodegree is definitely a must feature that needs to be added. From Udacity's perspective I suppose it would be a good idea to raise your course completion metrics, right? Sounds like a win-win situation to me.
Thank you in advance for looking into this urgently.

Hello, I also agree that there should be a pause option. I purchased the bundle package in last November during Thanksgiving sale. I was supposed to finish the program in 5 months but we planned to sell our house and moved to a different state. After the bundle package duration I am paying $100/month from last 3 months but not able to spend time. I desperately need the option to pause and come back whenever I have time to re-start. Many other sites have this option.

Hi Sameer Kamra, we don't have this option yet. You can cancel the subscription and re-enroll when you have more time to commit to the Nanodegree program. We have flash sales and exclusive discounts from time to time on our website, and we provide financial support to our learners as well.

Opening up discussions on this matter in this way is a most welcome move. I think this is a good starting point for Udacity.
I am equally affected as I am currently in the middle of my University BSc Computer Science mid-term submissions. Unavoidably, my Udacity programs have had to take a back seat pending completion of my CS June projects submissions.
Coincidentally, one of the CS modules is a C++ Project on Currency Trading Robot. I had hoped that the Udacity C++ course would help me out but the hoped was soon dashed as I realized that approaches are so different that Udacity lags behind in terms of ground work coverage. Too much elementary stuff and confusing flow of course work. Equally, I find that it is not clear what lessons must be completed before you are able to complete the first Udacity Project. You have a sense of being alone. Anyway, I needed a breather and this comes at a cost. This is worse considering that you don't have continued access to the course after the stipulated time. This makes Udacity courses very expensive for an average student.

Hi Collen Gura, thanks for taking out time to share your experience with us. I have made a note of your feedback, and shared it with the relevant teams.
Is it possible that you might have felt so because the C++ For Programmers is a basic level course and we do not offer Peer Chat and Mentor support because it is a free course? Do you have the same sentiments for the paid Nanodegree program you're taking with us? How can we fix it?0 -
I have lost a lot of money to Udacity as they refuse to refund or pause. I'll think twice before enrolling. I was in between interviewing for jobs and I didn't get the job and had to pay for these expensive courses which I did not have time to complete

Hi Shivani! I am sorry you are mistaken. I see you incorrectly commented with confident that the C++ course I was referring to was a free course. I am enrolled for Advanced C++ course with the University of London as part of CS module and for paid up C++ course with Udacity. See further comments below.
Please note that I am enrolled for the following paid up courses:
1. Java Programming Nanodegree Program;
2. Introduction to Self-Driving Cars;
3. C++ Nanodegree Program (Paid up course) (email. See Udacity email (15/6/21) below encouraging me to complete my C++ Project:
3. C++ Nanodegree Program. See email from Udacity below:

Hi Collen,
The suggested due date for your project Build An OpenStreetMap Route Planner is Thursday, June 17, 2021. The due dates are recommendations based on the program length. You can adjust them in your classroom at any time.
To acheive your goal, consider:
-
When will I do the work?
-
Where will I do the work?
Add it to your calendar and good luck!

Here is another email from Udacity about C++:
Hi Collen,
A new comment has been posted about the question "C++ Session 19: Why am I getting an error when running while loop code on Udacity platform and not on my Visual Studio 2019?"

Hi Collen Gura, I'm sorry if you felt bad. I only mentioned free course because I checked the account information related with your email id- c*****way@gmail.com and I found out that you had enrolled in C++ for programmers which happens to be a free course.
I could not see the paid C++ course details as they are associated with your other email id.
My intention was to map your feedback to the right course so our team can action it. Now that you have confirmed your feedback is for the paid C++ course, I'll share it with the relevant team. Thank you :)
PS: I have edited emails from your above comment to avoid any privacy concerns.0 -
Hello, what happens if you cancel the Nano degree course then re-enroll again. Does the course progress still remain where it was or it starts again?

Hello, Emenalo Onyekachi
Thanks for posting and welcome to the community.
1. To keep the content fresh, the Nanodegree programs do get periodic updates. Hence, the content may see some changes while you are on your break. If this happens, then depending upon the changes, you might have to complete new and different projects to be eligible to graduate.

Hope this helps

I am on a monthly subscription but will have to pause the subscription for work reasons. When the program is on pause, is it possible to access the program ?

Hello, Goker Yuruk
Good question - when you do this once your subscription ends you will not be able to access the program until you renew your subscription. Hope this answers your question.

I have same issue Iam enrolled at 4 month subscription , I am currently involved in a lot of stuff made me unable to commit to this period , I need to pause or cancel and now both options are unavailable and it shall waste my money , so sad that's the case from udacity I usually trust and recommend this platform but it seems that Iam mistaken about it

You have to find a way to handle such cases as soon as possible , it's very trivial case Iam so surprised that you don't support this

Thanks for your suggestion. We have taken your feedback into consideration and passed it along to the appropriate team. They are currently reviewing if this is feasible to implement but will not be able to do so for some time. We apologize for the inconvenience but your suggestions are being heard.

I had to let my 4-month subscription expires too since Udacity refused to refund or paused. I refuse to enroll to another paid courses until they have this option. This thread was opened 9 months ago, if you had really wanted/considered to implement it, it would have been done already.

I'm also requesting for the option to pause a subscription. Due to unforeseen life and work demands, my 3 month bundle went mostly unused and I've paid 2 additional monthly subscriptions (after the bundle expiration). Good amount of money wasted without much to show for it. I will not subscribe to Udacity programs till the pause option is available.
