XML Visualizer
Why XML Visualizer is not working?
-
Agree, I have been trying to contact someone at Udacity and they just keep passing me off to other people in the company. It's super annoying. I thought they were a reputable company too...

Hello,
I have referred this to our technical support team to look into. I have seen other students experiencing the same issue and we are looking into getting this resolved.

Any word back Chris on getting the XML Visualizer to work?

Thanks for reaching back out Brian. I see our product team has officially filed this as a bug and is working on getting a fix out ASAP.

Any word on a timeline? This has to effect what I assume is a high volume of users.

Unfortunately, I do not an exact timeline yet and don't want to make a false promise to you. It is on the product team's roadmap to fix and I will update you once I have the official word.

Hi all,
We have replaced "Lesson 1. Building Layouts: Part 1" and "Lesson 2. Building Layouts: Part 2" with LS libraries. Removed the links to http://labs.udacity.com/android-visualizer/ and added instructions on how to install Android Studio.
Apologies for the delay0 -
Chris - In some lessons, the instructor states that they've provided sample XML code for students to view and amend etc. Therefore, it is very important that students have a working Visualizer link.
Can Udacity not just provide a working Visualizer link (just as the course was designed/intended)? It's very disappointing that Udacity have taken the approach of removing the link(s), as it significantly impacts learning, in a negative way.
Is there a reason why Udacity cannot simply correct whatever the issue is and provide a working Visualizer link? Please elaborate on precisely what the issue is here.

The XML android-visualizer tool cannot be brought back due to a high-security issue in the tool. So, we decided to remove the references to the android-visualizer and ask students to use the standard Layout editor in the Android Studio IDE as an alternative.

I found this https://android-layout-visualizer.barmej.com
It looks the same as in the course with the same pictures.

If XML android-visualizer tool cannot be brought up, shouldn't udacity provide the resources that are needed for the courses ? I'm working on android basics nanodegree courses and it says "modify the provided XML" but no way to get the XML anywhere: https://learn.udacity.com/nanodegrees/nd803/parts/cd0342/lessons/ls2256/concepts/75204044-9579-40c0-82e4-baeb6539aad2
